The experiments of this work are conducted with sewage sludge ash from Avedøre Spildevandscenter. Replacement of cement (5 and 10%) and sand (10%) in mortar with the ash as received or milled is reported. Milling of the ash improves the compressive strength of the mortar in all cases compared to using the ash as received, and for 5% cement replacement and 10% sand replacement the compressive strength of the mortar prisms is higher than the reference samples. Using Bolomeys equation it was found that the ash had a weak pozzolanic effect.
